TT: Best Book of 2017 (So Far)

This prompt for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday was surprisingly harder than it sounds. I thought I get to pick 10! Which quickly turned into, OMG only ten?! So without further ado, let’s look at this anxiety provoking list.

The whole Top Ten Tuesday meme is organized by the lovely Broke and the Bookish and you can see the whole list here. I will link to my review, if I have reviewed it, and if not, then Goodreads.

  1. The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F.C. Yee I have a  review coming at ya in July, *spoiler, it was a 5*.
  2. Tyrant’s Throne by Sebastien De Castell This is bittersweet. The final Greatcoats book has got to make this list. Not only is it fabulous, but it stands for all the precious greatness.
  3. When the Moon Was Ours by Anne Marie McLemore It seems surreal that the same year I read this was this year. Where has the time gone?
  4. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
  5. The Summer that Melted Everything by Tiffany McDaniel (interview)
  6. A Place Called No Homeland by Kai Cheng Thom
  7. Hold Back the Stars by Katie Khan
  8. Girl on the Verge by Pintip Dunn The representation is this is off the charts good. (Click the Link to Enter a Giveaway for $25 Amazon Giftcard)
  9. Slaves of the Switchboard of Doom by Bradley W. Schenck Such a surprise of the year! I’ll have to give out awards at the end of the year.
  10. Hum if You Don’t Know the Words by Bianca Marais

So let’s talk.

  1. I’ve never read anything by Leigh Bardugo but I’ve heard awesome things about Six of Crows. I had a similar problem making my TTT list this week– ONLY TEN BOOKS?!?! 🙂 I guess it’s a good problem to have!!

    1. It was totally awesome. I think it lived up to the hype for me. But I am totally a sucker for certain types of characters. And it delivered them to me. I am already not looking forward to the end of the year favorite….

  2. Ahhh I’m a HUGE fan of Six of Crows!! I read it last year (and the year before that, ahha, #obsessed) and it’s safe to say I could easily handle another re-read. I also just bought the first Greatcoats book and I’m really excited to try it!!

    1. YAY! I want to spread all the Greatcoat love. And if I am right, which I hope I am, I think you’ll find a ‘villain’ worth their salt in it.

  3. Oh man, I know we’ve read some books in common but none of my favs are on your list so I am intrigued now to read all of your favorites and see what I’ve been missing. haha.

  4. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo was one my favorites this year too. I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Have you read Crooked Kingdom yet? I loved that one too and hope to reread them soon! Great list! Happy reading!

    Here’s my Top Ten Tuesday!

    1. I HAVE! It broke me. My heart still falls on the floor when I think about it. Thanks for leaving your link!

  5. I just started hearing about The Epic Crush of Genie Lo this week and everything is praising it. I’m super curious about it as a result. So glad to see When the Moon Was Ours on your list. I loved it so much. I am beyond excited for Wild Beauty. I cry every time I see someone with an ARC, but I try to comfort myself with the knowledge that I’ve already preordered it. Great list, Lili!

    1. I really LOVED it. I’ve been on a great ARC book streak, so I feel like a bit of a broken record, but this book started the streak. I CRY TOO!!! It actually hurts me deeply. I so wish I could have been approved for that. Maybe they will grant my wish?
