Review: Crash Landing by Annie McQuaid

Crash Landing is a story about survival and second chances. With a dual timeline, you’ll fall in love twice! I adored the pacing of the adventure and the romance! Keep reading this book review of Crash Landing for my full thoughts.

Summary

Piper Adams is totally, one hundred percent, completely over Wyatt, the former love of her life. After he broke her heart, she stopped taking risks and focused instead on building a perfect—and perfectly safe—life. Bumping into him at the airport on the way to her best friend’s destination wedding wasn’t part of the plan. Neither was a canceled flight nor Wyatt’s offer of a ride on the tiny plane he’s flying to attend the same wedding. Desperate to make it on time she accepts his offer, but things go from awkward to full-blown nightmare when their plane crashes in the Caribbean, stranding Piper on a deserted island with the last person she ever wanted to see again.

At first, rule-following Piper clashes with adventure-driven Wyatt, but as the days tick by, she begrudgingly admits that the boy she once knew has grown into a man. A man who makes her laugh, knows his way around a fire, and is annoyingly hot shirtless. As the chemistry still simmering between them boils over, Piper begins wishing Wyatt could be more than just a survival partner. But for their love to survive a second chance, she’ll have to not only trust Wyatt again, but also learn to trust herself and find the courage to let go of her carefully curated life for the chance at something far greater—if they survive the island long enough for rescue.

Review

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)

Forced proximity meets plane crash seems to be one of the most extreme situations. Not only that, but your ex and childhood crush! Crash Landing shows that careful plans and a curated life can always be disrupted. With now and then chapters, Crash Landing examines how deep a relationship can go. How our young love is a strong force that sometimes never lets us go. We are treated to two love stories as we witness Wyatt and Piper falling in love as teens and wondering if lightning can strike twice. If the embers can be brought back to life.

We can never outrun our trauma. The mystery of what happened in the past, plus the survival of the present, and the romance combine to make the perfect storm. Crash Landing explores the distance between who they were and who they are now. How much can we stay the same? How much can we change? I appreciated how in Crash Landing McQuaid takes us on Piper’s journey of finding her own voice. This was such a fun read!
