I have been a fan of Kamilah Cole since her debut and so I knew I had to read Wicked Endeavors. And I am so glad I did! This was such a fun story and I finished it earlier than expected!
Summary
Caya was once the ward of Coventry’s royal family…until they were killed by the three witch Houses that now rule the peninsula.
Now eighteen, Caya plans to infiltrate the witches’ glittering world to enact justice. With the help of a mysterious benefactor, she adopts the persona of Marisol Vinyet, a disarmingly beautiful aristocrat. As Marisol, she’ll attend the annual Coronet, a cutthroat social season during which witches increase their power by binding new members to their Houses. The Coronet will draw even the prince of neighboring Domingo—Tomás Castellan—to the peninsula just in time for “Marisol” to kill him. After all, his family set the witches upon Coventry in the first place.
But Tomás is more charming than Caya ever anticipated. Worse, her estranged childhood friend, Bas Arroyo, is the prince’s protector, and she struggles to control her complicated feelings for him.

5 Reasons to Read Wicked Endeavors
- We love a story about revenge. While we are so sure we want our revenge served burning hot, we also realize that revenge is like a barely controlled fire. It is blisteringly hot, a moment away from turning on itself and what happens when it burns out? Wicked Endeavors explores this theme, the idea of revenge and what happens if we get closer to it?
- Talk about a multi-faceted main character! Caya hell bent on revenge and determined to do whatever it takes. With illusion magic, a major theme is what we can see, what we can trust, but with Caya we aren’t sure at first. We don’t know how far she will go, what she won’t do.
- And talk about sacrifice, Wicked Endeavors keeps us on our toes. We are never sure who to trust, who isn’t in it for themselves, lying to themselves or lying to us. It’s a testament to revelations, secrets, and betrayal.
- A fabulous little complicated love triangle situation. I am coming around to love messiness and specifically triangles and Wicked Endeavors delivers. I loved how Caya has such a different relationship, and history, with each of them. Cole explores the burden of our past, the effects of lies, and what we can’t forget.
- Wicked Endeavors is almost nonstop action. We are always on the move and I loved falling into this world and story. I finished this book a few days earlier than I thought because I couldn’t stop reading. Especially the ending 20% that was INTENSE!
