I will read anything with a multiverse angle. While this one wasn’t as science fiction as I anticipated, if you’re in this for a love story, then pick up Cosmic Love at the Multiverse Hair Salon. Keep reading this book review of Cosmic Love at the Multiverse Hair Salon for my full thoughts.
Summary
Tressa Fay Robeson has never been shy, which is how she’s made a name for herself as an in-demand hairstylist and social media star. So she can admit that spending her days at her hair salon and her nights with her tight-knit group of friends (and one grumpy cat) is not the kind of exciting life she’d hoped for.
When a misdirected text from a stranger leads to a flirty exchange, she surprises herself by suggesting an impulsive meetup. But the woman, Meryl, never shows. Tressa Fay brushes it off—until Meryl’s sister and friend show up at the salon demanding to know what’s going on. Because, you see, there’s no way Meryl could have texted her. Meryl has been missing for a month.
Tressa Fay and her tight-knit group of friends soon discover they aren’t dealing with a catfish, but a temporal paradox. As they come to terms with the idea of parallel universes, they realize how many times their paths have crossed like this before. But even as they understand the multiverse more and more, nothing keeps Meryl from vanishing.
As it draws closer to the moment of Meryl’s disappearance, there’s only one question Have they done enough to change the outcome, or have they done so much that none of them will make it past that fateful day in September?
Review

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)
Cosmic Love at the Multiverse Hair Salon has a hook which will grab you. What if you fell in love with someone at the wrong time? Like five months too late? What if you fell into some universal loophole which connects us to the right person at the wrong time? Let’s start with what I loved: the romance and the two falling in love stories. The romance here is chef’s kiss with text messages, flirty banter, and plenty of soul searching. Mare does not rush their connection. Related to the romance, I enjoyed how Cosmic Love at the Multiverse Salon explores the dual love story of Tressa and Meryl in the Meryl’s past and Tressa’s present.
It makes you think about what creates love? Is it a person? The right timing? And what if you did it all out of order? There’s no denying that part of the allure of Cosmic Love at the Multiverse Hair Salon is the tension. Will Meryl and Tressa be able to solve this mystery? Is their love doomed from the start? And if we know that there’s an ending, does it mean they shouldn’t try? In many ways, Cosmic Love at the Multiverse Hair Salon tackles these universal themes in this science fiction setting.

I think my most disappointment was felt at the ending. It felt a bit loose and while I understand it, I was expecting a bit more from the science fiction premise. However, I think if you go into Cosmic Love at the Multiverse Salon with the premise more of a romance and less of the science fiction element, this won’t bother you. Once you read the ending you’ll know what I mean, but I can’t talk about it without spoiling the ending! Just know that it makes sense and feels right in the romance genre!
