In May I read 42 books. Let that sit for a second because I can’t even process that number. It seems unreal and accurate at the same time. May is a month that I felt like just went on and on and on. I was looking at my tracker and I was like, wait I read that this month?? It seems surreal.
Of the 42, I read 33% queer MCs and 55% POC MCs. So I’m exactly on my target and just a bit over for POC characters! With 42 books I am happy that I ended up being just on goal. In general, I had a good reading month with about 12 books I absolutely loved and need to chat about!
May is really the kick off for Summer Contemporary moods and I had 7 of the 12 which fell into this category: Breathe and Count Back from Ten, Man O’War, Love Radio, The Summer of Bitter and Sweet, Zyla & Kai, Private Label, and I Kissed Shara Wheeler. For my favorite MG books I loved two SF ones: Hana Hsu and the Ghost Crab Nation & Zachary Ying and the Dragon Emperor. And in adult reads, I loved Seasonal Fears, Babel, and A Lady for a Duke.
So even though this month went by in a moment and felt SO long, I had a fabulous reading month. There were so many I could have added to my favorite read list as well! But then you might as well just read the reviews because I can’t think of a single dud from this month. I hope that June slows down a lot, but I have a big push before a vacation so…..yeah right?
