It’s been a long time coming for this finale and wow! I wasn’t sure what to expect with The Book That Held Her Heart. It’s a solid finale and one that I enjoyed even if I may have been expecting a bit too much considering the last two. Keep reading this book review of The Book That Held Her Heart for my full thoughts.
Summary
The fate of an infinite library hangs on one book, a book that holds the power to break the unbreakable. In the face of such forces, fragile things like hearts, family, and the world seem certain to fail.
The people most vital to Livira are scattered across time and space, lost, divided into factions, in mortal peril. Somehow, she must bring them together and resolve the unresolvable argument that fuels the library’s war. The bond between Livira and Evar has stretched and stretched again. Can it hold at the end, when things fall apart? Can it bring them together against impossible odds? This is the last chapter, the final page. The end threatens and no one, not characters, readers, or even the author, will emerge unscathed.
Review

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)
Let’s normalize more book recaps because it was sorely needed in The Book That Held Her Heart. This series finale had a lot riding on it not only due to its finale, but also the epicness of the entire series. I will never get over how much this series has consistently challenged my ideas of the world and the possibilities. Based on how awed I was each time, this one feels a bit different than what I was expecting. The Book That Held Her Heart ties up all these loose ends and capitalizes on the foundation of the previous two books. While it didn’t sweep me away like the first two, it was a solid conclusion.

The Book That Held Her Heart asks us whether we can chance our mind. With these questions of what the future of the library should hold, how can we all agree on a path forward? There’s the same timeywimeyness of the previous books all with a similar multiple POV lens. At the beginning, it felt a little fractured, but by the ending act everything came together nicely. As a whole, this series finale asks us how can we not repeat the cycles of war and bloodshed. If we accept our mistakes, our wrongdoings, do we all have a second chance? A chance to be better?
