Review: The Holtur Enigma by Cameron Wayne Smith

The Holtur Engima is a fun monster hunting novella that is fueled by action and colorful personalities.

Summary

The monsters you fear are nothing compared to the ones you do not.

With the threat of a monstrous army arising, Vivian has set off towards the town of Holtur. His job is to conscript the toughest men he can find, in a location known for producing some of the best monster slayers around. However, Holtur has its own issues, and helping this stranger is far from a priority.

Will Vivian convince the people of Holtur to help his cause? Or will he fall victim to the beasts, wyverns, or horrors that surround the town? It doesn’t take long for him to discover that he was nowhere near prepared for this godforsaken land.

Review

book review The Holtur Enigma by Cameron Wayne SmithWhat ultimately won this novella for me was the sheer imagination required to describe and create all these creatures. Vivian is surrounded by this colorful cast of characters who must rely on their training, wits, and strength for survival. But they fight a variety of monsters that you can’t even fathom. At the same time, this novella, around 180 pages, is driven by non-stop action from the very beginning hook – which is quite compelling as well! The ending promises more adventures and ultimately it’s an uplifting story that dares to show us our own potential.

You can find The Holtur Enigma on Amazon(US) and add it to Goodreads.
