PBS Great American Read Event

I was invited to be at this special kick off event for The Great American Read. I couldn’t be happier to join, as you all know I am obsessed with books and reading. You may be wondering how many you’ve read and what this whole shin dig is about – so let me tell you!

The Great American Read

America has chosen the 100 most popular, most beloved, fan favorite reads from across the country. The masses have spoken. The list is not supposed to be a “Greatest” or “Best” it’s about the books that touched your heart, that you can’t help but love, that you never put down, and that you constantly re-read. Make sure you watch the trailer and take the quiz to see how many of the 100 you have read! You can vote once per day every day so make sure to vote. You can concentrate all your votes on one book of spread the love!

My Score

I have read 32 of the 100 books. So I’m not sure how good that is. I thought I would have read more but nope. There are so many classics I’ve missed like Catch 22 and Catcher in the Rye and a ton of other classics that are way longer. Some of my favorites were there though like Handmaid’s Tale1984, Heart of Darkness. And some of them were there that I haven’t read yet and really wanted to. So that brings me to the next part of my post, what books I want to read.

My TBR

I have a packed normal TBR but I do want to squeeze these in!

Americanah, The Joy Luck Club, Clan of the Cave Bear, The Color Purple, Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, Ghost, The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, and White Teeth. That’s a huge list, but these were already on my list before, but I hadn’t gotten around to it.

Will I be able to read all of them? Probably not, so I’m counting on your input to help me pick my read for the summer! Please vote for which book I should read.
