October was a month where I thought I had read more than I did. I still read quite a lot – 33 books – I just was totally surprised by September. I think it’s because I’m truly feeling the burn out of this year hard in October. I’ve decided to step it back a little in November and then even more so in December.
Books Read – 33
In October, I ended up reading 57% POC MC books and 30% queer MC books. I’m happy with those stats even though I’m a bit shy on one of them. But in general I’m really focusing in October through the end of the year to cut myself a break. To put into practice what I wanted from 2021. What bookish resolutions have you not started on yet? I can’t be the only one right?
In general I had such a good reading month full of books I’d been meaning to get to, like Fire with Fire, sequels I loved, like When Night Breaks, and new debuts. For series I continued to love, my favorite had to be Hollywood Heroine which is my favorite of the Heroine Complex series. But I also loved some books from tried and true favorites like Our Way Back to Always, When We Were Them, Little Thieves, A Rush of Wings, and Year of the Reaper.
As I mentioned earlier, I’ve already been trying to take November less seriously. To give myself the break I should have been the entire year really. It’s been hard to negotiate my feelings of guilt and the expectations I put on myself. But I am already feeling a bit better even within just a week or so. Do you force yourself to keep reading? I often get asked what I do about slumps. Mostly I push through, but I’m starting to decide to not push.
Trying again because my last comment didn’t seem to show up. I need to read a book by Olivia Dade soon. You’ve got a lot of great books here! Hope November has gone well and hope December is good so we can finish up this crazy year on a positive note!
YES we need to end 2021 on the best note! I hope your reading year is going well!
