October Wrap Up

So I know it’s November already, you don’t have to tell me twice, I already was caught riding the train with an expired ticket. I was not thinking. Because of that I know that it’s November, but let’s not dwell on unhappy incidents. This month I felt like I read nothing, but looking back it’s been quite a lot.

Reading Progress

So here were the titles I read in October. Yellow boxes means that it was an arc, even if it was backlist, I still received it from someone else. Notable highlights here are The Shadow Queen which I listened to on audiobook and have saved the review for a dreary day – maybe when I take a bit of a break for the Holidays.

Favorite Book of the Month

book review Sisters of the Crescent Empress by Leena LikitaloThis is too cruel a question, mostly because I am torn between Sisters of the Crescent Empress, An Unkindness of Magicians, The Nine, and The City of Brass. Because I am over run with work and my brain is struggling to make sentences, nevermind creative sentences for reviews or elaborate ones for cover letters (bear with me), I am going to feature them all. I’m a cop-out. I know that. Boo. Sisters of the Crescent Empress was a stunning conclusion to The Waning Moon Duology that is my new historical fantasy favorite. An Unkindness of Magicians is an absolutely perfectly dark adult fantasy book that makes me exhilarated to live in NYC. The Nine is one of those book which has an amazing premise, that is 100% fulfilled with a stellar book and characters. AND The City of Brass is a review for Wednesday, so I wont’ say too much, except you need to read it.

Life Updates

I am so looking forward to Black Friday because I hope that some subscription services, like Book of the Month, offer discounts so I can give everyone I know a subscription. I’m also in the talks to someone about beginning a future feature here that would highlight backlist titles. When I know, you’ll know. In my personal life I am swamped with work, my internship, and contemplating my future. Real life is hard. Kelly Clarkson’s new album does help though.

  1. I am sorry to hear you are so busy. This is that time of year when things really start to pile up for me as well. You read so many books it is inspiring. I am currently readinv City of Brass and loving it. I am really looking forward to reading Artemis this month. Hopefully it is as good as The Martian was.
    Happy reading!
