May + June Wrap Up

I have a double whammy for you today because May was so unbelievably busy that I never got my ducks in a row for a wrap up. I did take Goodreads shots of the books I read in May, I just never got a chance to write the write up!

PS. I didn’t code where I got each book, do you still want to see that? Would it be better if I highlighted the 5 star reads? Let me know below!

May

I think May was one of my favorite reading months. There was a good stretch of a week or two where I was in love with every book I read. See my reading of This Time Will Be Different, Patron Saints of Nothing, and The Downstairs Girl to mention a few. It was Asian Pacific Island Month so as you can see I made sure to read so many different books from all sorts of identities – Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, etc. I was also able to take part in an international blog tour for Aurora Rising and I went to Norway! You might have seen my Instagram/Bookstagram photos while hiking!

Overall, May was an amazing reading month. I had at least 8 five star reads just from this month alone. If you wanted to see all my five star reads for April through June then you can check out that post which happens quarterly. It’s a sneaky way for me to make it easier for myself at the end of the year! Some stand outs from this picture have to be The Right Swipe, Wilder Girls, The Merciful Crow and Shatter the Sky!

June

And now we get to the very busy month of June where I was at Bookexpo and Bookcon, not to mention on vacation in the US which is why this month is very sparse in the beginning. I do take advantage of the US libraries to take out ALL the graphic novels as you can see. We also had a Backlist Bookworms Book Chat about Ash in honor of the 10th anniversary. I discovered my love of Rat Queens which is just my speed. And some stand outs from the beginning have to be Wicked Fox and Hungry Hearts!

And by the end of June I got back into the swing of things, but re-adjusting after a vacation of being home is always difficult. Nevertheless I got to read the amazing Girls of Storm and Shadow which you have to prepare your heart for because this sequel will rock your world! I also got to meet some of my favorites like Natasha Ngan, Lillie Vale, and Joan He. See all my photos from Bookcon on my Instagram. I also got to see the shirts I got printed for the first time for The Fever King, Descendant of the Crane, and Girls of Paper and Fire and I love them!

In Other News

I’ve been doing more and more hand lettering which you can find on my Twitter. For a while I was doing it every day, but I’ve slowed down a lot as my reading has slowed down. But do follow me if you like the hand lettering!

And what might have been the biggest surprise is that I was featured in an article on Bookish for POC Bookstagrammers to follow and the thumbnail photo is me!

  1. Wonderful wrap up, love! Congrats on having such a productive reading month, and it’s awesome that you read so many favorites in May! Also, can I just say how satisfying it is to see all the books you listed in May, with so many beautiful POC on the covers!? I hope your trips to Norway and the US were exciting, and that you had a lovely time at Bookexpo and Bookcon!
