I am so here for this contemporary romance from Zen Cho. I’ve only ever seen the fantasy ones and so this one was on my TBR. Behind Frenemy Lines is perfect for those with rivals to lovers vibes! Keep reading this book review of Behind Frenemy Lines for my full thoughts.
Summary
When Kriya follows her boss and joins a new law firm, she’s looking for a fresh start after a messy break-up. Sharing an office with her work nemesis was not what she had in mind.
Charles has always played by the rules, and had clear boundaries until Kriya crashed into his space. A few too many unfortunate professional encounters has him convinced this attractive girl can’t stand him, and things only get more awkward as they are forced to work so closely together . . .
But just as they’re figuring out how to navigate this frenemy relationship, Kriya needs Charles’ pretend they’re dating so her boss will stop hitting on her. As they have to keep up the facade in front of those closest to them, it soon becomes less clear whether they’re enemies, friends – or something else.
Review

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)
Rivals to lovers let’s go! Behind Frenemy Lines focuses in on the ways we cannot see our rivals clearly and the ways in which we do. Sometimes it just takes someone to see who we are. Often times our rivals are the ones who are looking at us, examining us, the most. Yet at the same time, we often have misconceptions about these rivals. We can’t see the miscommunications or the ways in which they might not have meant to be our rival at all. Behind Frenemy Lines explores the rivals while also exploring issues of family.
Both Kriya and Charles don’t have safety nets and it impacts everything they do. For them, the responsibility weighs heavily and trying to have stability and security isn’t just about them. They have more in common than they think and a series of circumstances have them fake date to find out that they might be wrong about each other. Behind Frenemy Lines was so cute and I loved witnessing them get to know each other. While I wish I felt their chemistry more, I fell into Behind Frenemy Lines. Being dual POV is such a good choice to show us how in tune they’ve been to each other for so long.

I really liked the character development of Charles at the end! It was obvious I was going to like Priya, but Charles unexpectedly stole my heart! Find Behind Frenemy Lines on Goodreads, Storygraph, Amazon, Bookshop. org, Blackwells, & Libro. fm.
