#TheReadingQuest Sign Up and TBR

So many sign up posts today! I figured today would also be a good day to let you know of my intention to participate in #TheReadingQuest. I have to gush a little about this because the graphics are done by my friend CW from Read Think Ponder – and I’m in love, okay? She is responsible for all the lovely and delightful artwork. How can you not love a role playing read-a-thon? I mean, is it even a question?

Being a lover of video games, strategy games, and reading, this was an absolute no brainer. The only thing that was A+ challenge level was finding books that were already in my plans – like for #ArcAugust – to incorporate. I may have mentioned I need to read about a book a day from now until Aug.27 (before my vacation). So fitting these books in was the biggest challenge, but already I have succeeded!

How it Works

There are many rules and ways to participate, so I’ll just link you to the sign up post. But the TLDR is that you are a character who has to move in their assigned role playing path until you finish your objective – much like a Bingo board. When you’re done you can move onto a new character and also do the side quests in the middle. Sounds easy enough right?

I thought I would straight away be a rogue or a mage, and I WAS RIGHT. Because mages are so great! So my current game plan is to go Mage – Knight – Rogue – Bard. I told you I was being way ambitious.

My TBR

So I have a pretty ambitious TBR planned for this, so let me just highlight the ones I hope to do and when I’ve managed this, I’ll give a little check in post when I try to do a new character.

My Mage Books

The Girl from Everywhere by Heidi Heilig. On my TBR like for ever I am so glad to finally be going through this series in August.

Want by Cindy Pon. I need this book, like to have read it yesterday. I wasn’t approved for the egalley which nearly crushed me. But it’s out now so I can get redemption!

The Waking Land by Callie Bates. This was one of those backlisted earcs I was approved for. So that’s cool right?

The Dark Wife by Sarah Diemer. Because Persephone has always been my fave Greek mythology character. I also requested this for my birthday earlier this year and it has been staring at me every night.

The Black Tides of Heaven by J.Y. Yang. I was sent this egalley from Tor.Com and have been waiting to use this in a challenge! Yang has been more and more on my radar since I’ve been more active on twitter this month and so the hype is so ready for this.

My Knight Books

The Girl from Everywhere by Heidi Heilig. This is a double counting square.

Not if I See You First by Eric Lindstrom. This is also for my Diversity Bingo challenge, so yes for achieving simultaneous goals!

Infinity Wars edited by Jonathan Strathan. I was approved for this on Netgalley and am so excited because I could not pass up those author lists: Garth Nix & Aliette deBodard.

The Red Thread of Fortune by J.Y. Yang. The second to the amazing Tor.Com novellas!

Hello Moto by Nnedi Okoraor. This was optioned for a Nigerian film company and I couldn’t be happier. I want all of her books/novellas to be movies. Binti movie? Yes please.

I don’t want to jinx my completion of the other paths, so let’s just stop this TBR here. I am getting nervous just thinking of the other books. Thank goodness I can read past the 28th of August when I’m visiting my home in the US.
