I have loved reading Gloria Chao’s murder mystery series and The Mortal Enemy Murder Club is no exception. This is a heartfelt murder series with a core of friendship. Summary

The Mortal Enemy Murder Club asks us whether someone can change. After The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club our favorites are reeling. The betrayal still stings, but they have each other now. This sequel examines how we can move on and re-invent ourselves – even if there’s danger. It gives me an Only Murders in the Building vibe in the best way! The Mortal Enemy Murder Club is a fun action packed sequel with unlikely allies and our favorite friendships. I can never figure out who did it, but I always trust Gloria Chao. I loved the emergence of the theme of moving forwards and re-invention and wonder if we re-invent ourselves and become something better or try to run from who we were.

Ultimately, I still love The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club for meeting my favorites, but this was an interesting and exciting story about revenge and moving forwards. I can’t get over a team getting back together and this is it! The mystery feels a bit less high stakes than the first, but I liked being with the characters all over again.
