Review: The Hookup Plan by Farrah Rochon

I have loved The Boyfriend Project series! Beginning with The Boyfriend Project and then The Dating Playbook, this latest serves similar charisma! If you love romance stories with strong friendships and a driven MC, this is for you! Keep reading this book review for my full thoughts.

Summary

Successful pediatric surgeon London Kelley just needs to find some balance and de-stress. According to her friends Samiah and Taylor, what London really needs is a casual hookup. A night of fun with no strings. But no one—least of all London—expected it to go down at her high school reunion with Drew Sullivan, millionaire, owner of delicious abs, and oh yes, her archnemesis.

Now London is certain the road to hell is paved with good sex. Because she’s found out the real reason Drew’s back in Austin: to decide whether her beloved hospital remains open. Worse, Drew is doing everything he can to show her that he’s a decent guy who actually cares. But London’s not falling for it. Because while sleeping with the enemy is one thing, falling for him is definitely not part of the plan.

Review

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)

As someone who was an early fan of “Grey’s Anatomy” you know I go out of my way to read medical stories. Especially romance. So when I saw The Hookup Plan, I may have let out a shrill hooray. Having enjoyed this series so much, I loved that the friendship between London, Samiah and Taylor have remained a core of the story. This friendship, even as their lives have all changed and evolved since we first met them, warms my heart. London might be my favorite though.

She’s a no mess, no frills, kind of character. So fiercely determined, London is a hot shot pediatric surgeon fighting against the sexism within her department. That made my blood boil ok? And Hampton did a fabulous job at portraying this barely concealed rage and all of London’s emotions in general. I truly felt like London was right next to me. Almost like I was involved in their friendships.

The Hookup Plan is a story about finding a way to work together. About going for our dreams and challenging ourselves in ways we never could have anticipated. The romance is swoony but I’m a huge fan of rivals to romance – especially when one of the rivals never thought it was that serious – and second chances. My favorite part of The Hookup Plan has to be London’s character as a whole, but I predictably fell in love Drew of course. We love a MC who needs someone to take care of her when she spends the whole day saving lives. Am I right?
