Review: The Haunting of Tram Car 015 by P. Djèlí Clark

If you’re in the mood for a fun mystery meets magical investigation novella, you need to check out this one! The Haunting of Tram Car is a fast paced adventure novella that I am going to be recommending to everyone. From the bureaucratic touches to the djinn, I loved it all! Keep reading this book review to find out if this novella is for you!

Summary

The Haunting of Tram Car 015 returns to the alternate Cairo of Clark’s short fiction, where humans live and work alongside otherworldly beings; the Ministry of Alchemy, Enchantments and Supernatural Entities handles the issues that can arise between the magical and the mundane. Senior Agent Hamed al-Nasr shows his new partner Agent Onsi the ropes of investigation when they are called to subdue a dangerous, possessed tram car. What starts off as a simple matter of exorcism, however, becomes more complicated as the origins of the demon inside are revealed.

Review

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)

Give me a good paranormal investigation any day. The world of The Haunting of Tram 015 is in flux. It’s a world on the precipice of change: allowing women the chance to vote, encouraging the transcendental disciplines. History is fresh in the minds of the collective in a society that seems to be adjusting to changes daily. While reading I could not get enough of the fabulous world Clark has created.

I devoured The Haunting of Tram Car 015 in one sitting. From one moment to another it feels like a case file as we watch the case unfold. I’d read about a million of these cases and I am so excited for the next novella in this series. If you’ve ever wanted to read about a magical society solving paranormal crimes, add this novella to your TBR now.
