I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to finish The Infinity Courts series, but here we are. And The Afterlands is such a satisfying ending! I love this unique and inventive series from Akemi Dawn Bowman. Keep reading this book review of The Afterlands for my full thoughts.
Summary

The Afterlands explores what our future could be like. We can become locked in this cycle of violence, of revenge, of total victory. But what might peace look like? Could it look like something that didn’t demand the erasure of one side? Is there a solution to the approach of fighting fire with fire that doesn’t end with it all razed to the ground? This solution, this negotiation, is harder to do. And for Nami she fights for the shades of grey, the complicated truth, and the possibility of change. I also, predictably, loved the sister relationship in The Afterlands. So much has changed and there’s this distance between what Nami knew and the world now.
We can’t be embroiled in an endless war over power, over fighting for the throne and then over throwing it. If we always reach to hate, to never be better, we can never be better. The Afterlands is such a satisfying ending to a unique and wonderful series. Akemi Dawn Bowman has really pushed this series to the limits, to the end, and to these fabulous themes. If you’re looking for a unique fantasy series, then you have to read the entire Infinity Courts series. I am so glad I finally finished this one!
