The Phoenix Hoard book series is one of my favorite urban fantasy series. I love the way Vee & Bebelle have infused this series with setting, fantasy, and heart. This stunning series finale is an absolute must read! Keep reading this book review of Pearl City for my full thoughts.

Review

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)
Pearl City is a fabulous series ender. It ties up these threads that have been building for the past two books. Emiko and who she is, what she stands for, has been a theme that has been steadily climbing. She doesn’t want to be known for destruction and violence, especially with her past. Pearl City begins with action. It hits the ground running and doesn’t let up. In the aftermath of Blood Jade, Emiko struggles with everything she has given up and taken from others. And when one thing seems to be doing okay another crumbles at her feet.

Pearl City forces things to a head in this clan war. And will she be able to survive it? Emiko feels the weight of the responsibility. In the eye of the storm, she is going to be asked about what kind of role she wants to play. What does her power signify and how will she use it? I loved how Pearl City also explores the themes of family – and loyalty – which has been a huge theme in the past two books. While the ending felt a bit hasty considering the lead up, I really enjoyed Pearl City and would read so many books in this world! It remains a fantastic series ender about finding and cementing our strength. About the people who make us stronger.
