Review: Once a Villain by Vanessa Len

Once a Villain is the series finale of my dreams. I have been loving and waiting for this book and this series end for so long. And it’s 100% worth it! Keep reading this book review of Once a Villain for my full thoughts.

Summary

Joan has failed to stop Eleanor.

Now Eleanor rules over a cruel new timeline where monsters live openly among humans, preying on them and subjugating them.

Nick—once a hero to humans, and Joan’s first love—is tormented by the choice he made to save her over the timeline itself. And Aaron—the ruthless heir to a powerful monster family—now finds himself in a world where monsters have power beyond imagining while his feelings for Joan grow.

Wrenched between love and rivalry, the three of them must negotiate their fractured pasts to survive the new world and restore what was lost. Because only they remember that there was once a better timeline.

But how will they defeat a whole world of monsters with control over time itself?

Review

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)

Once a Villain is full of timeywimey magic, love triangles, and new timelines. Every book I wonder how can they get out of this one, how can they find their way to a resolution. And each time, Len surprises me. Once a Villain is a fabulous series ender which asks us how different we would be if something was different about our life. What is true to who we are in every lifetime and what is a product of our situation? Even just this theme alone has me falling in love with Once a Villain all over again. Even more so, Once a Villain is about the greater good, about protecting the ones we love, and about love.

I loved the twists and turns in Once a Villain which had me racing to the end. There are these tender moments of love, of quietness, and of splashes of light. But there are also moments where our family hurts us, goes against us, and surprises us. Don’t even get me started on how much these characters ripped out my heart. Talk about tears being shed! I love how they’ve grown through to the end. What kind of sacrifices will we be forced to make? This was a brilliant series ender and 100% solidifies that you all need to read the series!
