Summary
Linh’s mother was just buried this morning. At the funeral, Linh is visited by a strange boy who hints at secrets to her mother’s past. Desperate to learn more, Linh is thrust into another world – Ebrirene, a realm governed by ancient magics – where the mysterious boy, Elior, happens to be Crown Prince.
Here, Linh learns that the kingdom is under attack by vicious demons who threaten to break free from a portal her mother sealed years ago, and the Crown believes Linh possesses the power to seal it once more. But not everyone in Ebrirene wishes Linh well. Someone enters Linh in a deadly Tournament against her will, and a mysterious Captain, leader of the mage hunters, is determined to seek her out. Now Linh must fight for her own survival or surrender to the monsters that might be closer to her than she thinks.
Review

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)
Blood of Silver instantly gripped me and I cannot wait for the next one! I love this mixture of magics with portal magic and space magic. Not going to lie, I initially was like outer space, but it’s not space in that sense, more like spatial magic. Blood of Silver has Linh grappling with new magic and how to use it amidst speculation and an entirely new world. She’s thrown headfirst into trying to figure out if she can get a hold of this magic to seal the portal once more. All these stories turn out to have shreds of truth in it and I love how Blood of Silver explores duty versus love. Except there’s this twist on the Chosen One who then has to figure out if she is a pawn or a powerful figure.

Blood of Silver explores whether love should cost us and what we would do to be with the people we love. Does any relationship have a shot? While the ending felt very hasty considering the lead up, I enjoyed the world building so much and the ending is the perfect thread to keep us all hanging on. Blood of Silver is for those who like books which revolve around what happens when what we want isn’t best and we might have to give it up even if it never lets us go.
