Review: All Fired Up by M.K. England

This fire fighter scientist romance is a combo I didn’t think I needed, but it turned out I did! All Fired Up is a fun romance about opening up our perspective and about taking the leap. Keep reading this book review of All Fired Up for my full thoughts.

Summary

Nicole Wells left Seattle two years ago for graduate school to study fire dynamics…and to get away from her best friend and unrequited love, Skylar Clark. Now she’s back home with a new job, ready to hit reset on her life and reconnect with her friends.

And maybe finally get together with Skylar.

Nic’s plans go up in flames when Skylar announces she’s moving to Fiji for a new business venture, in what will likely be another catastrophe for the ambitious but seldom successful BFF. That, and there’s a newcomer to Nic’s group of friends: Kira McKinney, a firefighter Nicole can’t keep her eyes off.

Worried about their friend making a huge mistake, Nicole and Kira work together to stop Skylar from leaving. When talking to her doesn’t work, there’s only one option left—shenanigans. But as all their efforts go up in smoke, one thing becomes wildly clear.

Sparks are starting to fly between Nic and Kira…

Review

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)

This dual POV romance was spicy and swoony. We can become so entrenched in an idea, it’s hard to break out of that thought cycle. But what happens what that dream, that person, no longer fits our future? What if they never did? All Fired Up is about misguided decisions, the need to jump, and how important it is to realize what we want. It’s tempting to just jump from life raft to life raft. But what happens when we have to stand on our own? This was such a fun, and heartfelt story about characters who both need the courage to jump.

All Fired Up is for those who feel like a disaster. Who love a good friend group of those who always tell it like it is. If you ever felt that a good ending needs to be broken down first, this is for you! It’s also for those who love the ‘we said we’d do casual, but I can’t do casual’ trope. I love that trope and so this made my heart sing. Find All Fired Up on Goodreads, Storygraph, Amazon, Bookshop.org, & Libro. fm.
