Hello all you lovelies. I wanted to update you on which books I read and my brief thoughts. I didn’t manage to read all four. I’ve been changing around my a-book-a-day schedule because I recently got some news that I might be moving. Because of that I needed to pack, but mostly spend time with people here before I move. So it pains me to not have been able to do these challenges, and the Reading Quest, but real life does come first. ANYWAY I made that decision after I had already read three of the books. Without further ado:
Jade City
I ended up LOVING Jade City. It was the magical jade ride with gang conflicts, magic, and more. What I loved the most was the rich setting. The world was so rich and full of history and folklore. Additionally, the characters, which essentially revolves around a family, were amazing. Even more so, the ending ends with the promise of a sequel and, let me tell you, it’ll be amazing. I can already feel it. This is Lee’s first adult novel, but it is just pure perfection. It doesn’t suffer from any of the debut symptoms and may be in the runner for my favorite adult fantasy series.

Tiger’s Watch
So I won’t talk as much about this, because I just posted my review of it yesterday on the blog. TLDR of it? Loved the premise, and characters. I wish there had been more of the world, but I know Ember must be saving some of that for the next one 😉 Overall, it has the same amazing quality I am used to from Ember and The Seafarer’s Kiss.

Beasts Made of the Night
So this was a magical journey. The whole concept of sin eating was absolutely amazing to read about. Additionally, there were all these themes of sin, guilt, and societal roles. Like that alone was enough to give it a whole star for me. Then there were some amazing characters, and the side characters may have been my favorite.

I was supposed to read the Waking Land for the last book, but I ended up not finishing it, or even starting it. Oops. I did end up reading Jaya and Rasa because of needing it for something else. So for that reason, I’ve included it here.
Jaya and Rasa: A Love Story
I don’t even remember why I ended up picking this up early, but it was fantastic. There were heavy hitting themes, but at the heart of it was a love story. Be warned, there’s all sorts of trigger warnings. But if you do end up reading it, you won’t regret it. It’s a fabulous story about two young main characters who don’t fit in anywhere, except with each other.

So I didn’t quite manage this with 100% success, but what did you end up reading this week?
