I have heard SO much about Lovelight Farms. And I finally listened to my audio book and now I get the hype! I fell in love. This was so fun and swoony. Also who can get over the setting?! Keep reading this book review of Lovelight Farms for my full thoughts.
Summary
A pasture of dead trees. A hostile takeover of the Santa barn by a family of raccoons. And shipments that have mysteriously gone missing. Lovelight Farms is not the magical winter wonderland of Stella Bloom’s dreams.
In an effort to save the Christmas tree farm she’s loved since she was a kid, Stella enters a contest with Instagram-famous influencer Evelyn St. James. With the added publicity and the $100,000 cash prize, Stella might just be able to save the farm from its financial woes. There’s just one problem. To make the farm seem like a romantic destination for the holidays, she lied on her application and said she owns Lovelight Farms with her boyfriend. Only…there is no boyfriend.
Enter best friend Luka Peters. He just stopped by for some hot chocolate and somehow got a farm and a serious girlfriend in the process. But fake dating his best friend might be the best Christmas present he’s ever received.
Review
Okay, so Lovelight Farms is the cutest. It’s the ultimate friends to lovers catnip. And having it be just Stella’s POV is brilliant. Because for a second you can believe that maybe Luka doesn’t love her – even though let’s be real WE ALL KNEW THIS! But it reminds us of how we can be so scared of getting hurt, of losing this person who has become our home. And how we can let that fear stop us from being with the people we love. The idea that they might not love us back could crush us.
Lovelight Farms is tender. It’s charming and of course swoony. One gets swept away in the Christmas tree farm, in the magic of the pine trees, and the ways two people can seem like they’re speaking the same language without trying. There’s also an unexpected subplot which I really enjoyed – and even laughed aloud at a few times. I wish Luka had a bit more space to come into his own, but it’s the Stella show and I’m looking forward to seeing him a bit more in the future.

Pippa Jayne does a phenomenal job at narrating. You can really feel Stella’s doubt, the second guessing, and the fear just barely holding her back. I am already excited for the next one!
