I’ve been so excited for Cursebound ever since I finished Faebound. Saara El-Arifi is an auto-buy author and this sequel was fantastic! No middle series slumps here! Keep reading this book review of Cursebound for my full thoughts.
Summary
Yeeran and Lettle are no longer prisoners to the fae court, but now they’re bound by the shackles of their hearts …
Yeeran was born for war but is unprepared for love. She has left her new lover, the Queen of the fae, to return to her homeland, only to find that her former lover now threatens war against the fae.
Left behind, her sister Lettle is determined to break the curse that binds the fae to their realm. When a stranger appears in the city, Lettle is convinced he’s the key. But the Fates that once spoke to her have fallen silent.
Can Lettle and Yeeran discover the secret behind the curse – and unite these two worlds before they destroy each other?
Review

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)
Cursebound will have you wishing you had a time machine so you could read the sequel immediately. One of the key elements in Cursebound is the question of whether we can ever escape prophecy. Is everything written destined to come to pass? Another element is the question of how we achieve change and break out of the cycles we find ourselves trapped in. Within Cursebound we witness the oppression of the Lightless as the worlds of the Fae, the elves, and the Lightless (and maybe more…) crash together. As new ways forward emerge, how can we achieve change and right decades long wrongs?

What paths exist for us moving forwards and what are we willing to give up? Cursebound balances action and world expansion effortlessly. I appreciated seeing both Yeeran and Furi navigate the losses within their relationship. Will we always be defined by our actions in the past? When there are these layers of hurt, betrayal, and loss, how do we continue to find the love within? And for Rayan and Lettle, how can our society move forwards into the future when we still are keeping others in the darkness?
Cursebound has some twists which I wasn’t expecting which made my jaw drop. It’s an absolute smash of a sequel and I love my editions with my whole heart. Find Cursebound on Goodreads, Storygraph, Amazon, Bookshop.org, Blackwells, & Libro. fm.
