Who Am I? Tag

I saw this great and fun tag from Sparkling Letters but she actually was tagged by The Literary Huntress. This seemed like a more fun way of doing a get to know me post without doing a bunch of questions. With no further ado, let us begin.

What is the meaning of my name?

So I am not going to do my real name, but instead explain my Blog Name. I have wanted to do a separate post on this for a while, so I let me just answer this now. For a while, ever since high school, I have been obsessed with utopias and dystopias. It was one of the first real interests I had in literature, so I wanted to give that a little homage with my name.

At the same time I wanted my name to be sort of catchy, something memorable. One day I was listening to Empire State of Mind from Alicia Keys and Jay-Z (a song about New York City). I figured that was a good place to start, since I would never find a song about the small county I am from, since we are all almost invisible compared to NYC. Empire State of Mind – Empire + Utopia = Utopia State of  Mind.

But what does this actually mean? Well I wanted it to speak to my mindset that reading is a good way to explore. To explore the stars, the world, the corners of our mind. All striving for something better, something more just, something better. Not being willing to sit aside, but wanting to build something better. I am not necessarily thinking of a utopia here, but the drive for something better.

What is my Myer-Briggs personality type? [LINK]

My personality is Defender:

• 64% Introverted
• 55% Observant
• 70% Feeling
• 89% Judging
• 87% Turbulent

I think this is pretty spot on for me. I am extremely introverted with strangers, but with my friends I can come out of my shell and speak more. However, I never feel like I am settled, unless I have a social surrounding. The events can leave me feeling exhausted, not energized, but these events are crucial for not feeling isolated. I entirely agree with 89% judging, I had to do lists for everyday and a blog schedule until June. I need the strict organization to keep my anxiety at bay and the stress manageable. What is my zodiac sign?

So my birthday is right on the border. I was born on January 20th and this is often the border between Capricorn and Aquarius. So for that reason, I do not really believe in it. I get sometime differing messages and without falling straight into one it can be confusing to read my horoscope.

What is my hogwarts house? [LINK]

So I did not use this link, I used a test I took earlier this week. My house is pretty close Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. I have to say the test was pretty spot on. I have this fiercely intellectual side, but a very strong need to do good and make a different. However, at the end of the day I guess I would have been placed into Gryffindor. The sorting hat does take into consideration what you would like to be, and I think my deepest desire would be to be brave enough for Gryffindor.

 

What are my learning styles? [LINK]

My result showed that I have a multimodal learning preference. This means that there is no strong preference towards one. I sort of agree with this, but I think it’s too general a result. There are a variety of ways we learn skills, and different skills require different learning styles (language learning versus math). So I do not put too much emphasis on this.

Am I right or left brain dominant? [LINK]

I got 56% Right Brain and 44% Left Brain. I am not sure really about this result. However, I am pretty terrible at math so I do agree that the left brain should be less. I would like to think I am more creative, so, overall, this result makes sense to me.

What is my blood type?

I have absolutely no clue. No one has ever told me before.

What career am I meant to have? [LINK]

I got Social Activist. I am not surprised at all. Having done social activism work for over three years, I know that it was work I found very satisfying. If I could go back to it, I would. But it was also entirely exhausting and I had to take a break to recover. That being said, I’m pretty much ready (and this is the time isn’t it?) Also now that I am reading more for fun, the self care is a lot better now.

Which divergent faction do I belong in? [LINK]

I’m a Candor! I read these books so long ago I do not even remember what they stood for. I was not a huge fan of the series in general, however I am a stickler for finishing, so I did finish them.

What does my birth order say about me? [LINK]

I am the firstborn. I feel a bit torn about this. While, definitely a natural leader I think that has everything to do with who I am. I was adopted so first born is already a little of a stretch. Regardless, that isn’t my only reason for not really buying into this one.  There also isn’t a whole lot of info in this quiz. So all in all, maybe interesting if you have more than one sibling.
