Review: Dungeons and Drama by Kristy Boyce

As a mega fan of board games, I knew I had to read Dungeons and Drama. This is perfect for anyone who is a fan of coming out of our shell, of opening up our mind and heart. Keep reading this book review of Dungeons and Drama below.

Summary

Musical lover Riley has big aspirations to become a director on Broadway. Crucial to this plan is to bring back her high school’s spring musical, but when Riley takes her mom’s car without permission, she’s grounded and stuck with the worst punishment: spending her after-school hours working at her dad’s game shop.

Riley can’t waste her time working when she has a musical to save, so she convinces Nathan—a nerdy teen employee—to cover her shifts and, in exchange, she’ll flirt with him to make his gamer-girl crush jealous.

But Riley didn’t realize that meant joining Nathan’s Dungeons & Dragons game…or that role playing would be so fun. Soon, Riley starts to think that flirting with Nathan doesn’t require as much acting as she would’ve thought…

Review

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)

What’s better than fake dating and DND? Even more so, in Dungeons and Drama you’re able to witness someone fall into love with the freedom and creativity of role playing games. We can be so certain we know how we feel, but what happens when our beliefs are challenged? When we realize something we thought is wrong? That someone we thought we knew, hated, isn’t like that at all? With great fake dating vibes, Dungeons and Drama is a cute read that will make the time fly by.

Beneath the fake dating and swoons Dungeons and Drama delivers a precious friendship and a family story sub plot. This was a quick cute read which I think will appeal to fans of musicals, passionate heroines, and board games. Find Dungeons and Drama on Goodreads, Storygraph, Amazon, Bookshop.org, & Blackwells.
