If you’re looking for a cute romance story with pugs, independent career women, and swoons, look no farther. Every night I looked forward to reading Behind the Scenes. Keep reading this book review for my full thoughts.
Summary
Business consultant Rose Josten might not have officially reached “pug lady” middle age, but she’s already got the pugs—along with their little Gucci coats and trash-lovin’ appetites. Still, life is good, with her work, her sisters, and a secret hobby creating incredibly tactile (if surprisingly sexy) mindfulness videos. So why does it feel like it’s not quite enough? A filmmaker who has to get ready to believe in herself who meets a bad ass business woman who loves pugs? Behind the Scenes delivers charismatic characters from the beginning. The banter immediately swept me off my feet. I’m a sucker for characters who struggle to release control, who feel the weight of their family and responsibilities on their shoulders. Meet Rose. She was so many piece of me all combined into one.
If you’re a fan of those cosmic coincidences, those people that just keep coming back, you’ll have to pick up Behind the Scenes. Being able to see through both Rose and Ash’s eyes allows us to truly appreciate the character journeys of both of them. It’s a great romance book which allows both characters to develop and evolve in front of our eyes. Plus it has one of my favorite lines in it, “Maybe all artists needed a woman in a blazer”.

Look, I’ll allow Rose into my life whenever she wants. Behind the Scenes is full of heart. It’s about Rose and Ash’s secrets that unfold. About wanting someone who will stick by us even when we aren’t sure about ourselves. Someone who will help us even if we can’t ask for help, who will just be there. Behind the Scenes made my heart swoon and was the perfect comfort romance read. Definitely pick up if you’re a fan of a King meeting a Poet (if you’ve seen that quiz floating around the internet).
