As the reluctant companions delve deeper into their wayward mission, they begin to realize that even greater threats lie ahead. Plagued by self-doubt but eager to prove himself, Roku fights for his life and the lives of others while ensuring that the hidden secret of the island doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)

The Reckoning of Roku centers around self-doubt. There’s always this factor of wondering why we were chosen. And for Roku it’s a thought that remains with him. Wondering, especially at the beginning, why he was picked. Throughout The Reckoning of Roku, he has to figure out how to harness his other powers. There’s training montages, quests to find secrets, and unlikely friendships. If you’re a fan of the series, I can imagine you will love this latest installment!

The Reckoning of Roku has some great friendships not only grounded in memory, but also in unlikely friends. I liked that throughout The Reckoning of Roku is this balance of friendship, ambition, and the future. Will our friends come at the cost of our goals? What will it take to keep our friends?
