Review: Smoke by Roxanne Heath

Smoke defied my expectations. I was expecting some sort of mystery aspect, but there is way more supernatural elements than I was expecting. *Do not read this at bed time, I did and it was a mistake!*

Summary

It all begins with the discovery of a dead man in the woods. Underneath this seemingly routine tragedy lies a mystery of supernatural proportions. They cannot figure out what caused his death and soon the supernatural elements begin to pile up in this murder mystery that brings back old family wounds and a dangerous past.

Review

book review Smoke by Roxanne HeathSmoke begins with a phenomenal hook that inspires more questions than answers – and this feeling pervades the entire book. Heath slowly reveals, through chapters from the past, all the secrets of our four main characters. While this is a murder mystery, there’s also family drama, and a story of friendship. These flashbacks establish an ominous feeling from the very beginning of the book and it only rises in tension.  I genuinely enjoyed the different characters in the book. They each had their own ghosts that were haunting them. If you are searching for a book that may scare you a bit, in a good way, this is for you.

You can grab yourself a copy of Smoke on Amazon(US) and add it to Goodreads.
