Review: Faebound by Saara El-Arifi

Faebound is one of my most anticipated releases of 2024. I shrieked when I was able to read this one because of how much I love El-Arifi’s work. So what did I think with these high hopes? Keep reading this book review of Faebound to find out.

Summary

Yeeran is a warrior in the elven army and has known nothing but violence her whole life. Her sister, Lettle, is trying to make a living as a diviner, seeking prophecies of a better future.

When a fatal mistake leads to Yeeran’s exile from the Elven lands, they are both forced into the terrifying wilderness beyond their borders. There they encounter the impossible: the fae court.

The fae haven’t been seen for a millennium. But now Yeeran and Lettle are thrust into their seductive world – torn between their loyalty to each other, their elven homeland, and their hearts. . .

Review

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)

Faebound is a riveting action packed fantasy with swoons, ethics, and loyalty. It’s a story about war and vengeance, love and forgiveness. From the beginning, I love a story about siblings and the sister relationship with Yeeran and Lettle are some of my favorites. For them, they not only have to go through growing pains of their relationship, but also to reconcile what happened with the past. If you love stories about changing landscapes, questions of loyalty, and secrets, this is for you!

From the ashes of devastation, both Yeeran and Lettle will have to figure out how to navigate these new worlds. The new relationships, power struggles, and questions of what we will sacrifice. The prophecies in Faebound ask us how much we can impact in our lives. What we can escape, control, and do in the faces of these forces of revenge and conquering. At the same time, Faebound asks us about what we will choose. Will it be love or revenge?

All the things we will do for power and who we will pin the prices on. If we choose war, vengeance, and anger over love what will happen? This is another winner from El-Arifi and I cannot wait for the sequel! Find Faebound on Goodreads, Storygraph, Amazon, Bookshop.org, & Blackwells.
