An Honored Vow is the highly awaited series finale for the Halfling Saga. And it did not disappoint. Talk about something that must have been a feat to tie up. I’ve loved every moment in this universe! Keep reading this book review of An Honored Vow for my full thoughts.
Summary
“Your land is not the one you take, it is the one you die for.”Still reeling over her discovery of a staggering secret about her closest ally, Keera has no time to rest. She and her fellow rebels plan a desperate rescue mission after King Damien takes one of their own hostage. Opening the kingdom’s magical seals has transformed Keera in ways even the wisest Fae elders could not have anticipated. With the kingdom’s Halfling population suddenly posing a risk to the crown, the land is plunged into violence as the king begins a new blood purge. Keera and her allies gather an army to meet Damien’s forces in a final confrontation of epic, and tragic, proportions. The epic final installment in the Halfling Saga will thrill fans of Melissa Blair’s lush, action-packed, romantasy series.
Book Review
(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)
In An Honored Vow this anticipated sequel explores their loss and looks to the future. It examines the wars which live inside of us. The memories which haunt us and the dreams which terrify us. Much like stories that revolve around a war, An Honored Vow asks us whether one person’s life is worth the whole of the rebellion? Is an innocent casualty, a loved one, worth losing the battle? It asks the age old question about whether love is a weakness or a strength. An Honored Vow forces our favorite characters to think about the weapons we make ourselves into in order to win, but what happens after?
This finale wraps up so many threads all at once in such a satisfying way. Can there be healing in the post, in the what happens after? If we can’t change the past, can we fight for a better future? This ending was perfection as it examines the sacrifices and costs of war. It’s a finale with wonderful development as our favorites’ stories come to a close.
