Blog Tour: Review: The Last Hope by Becca & Krista Ritchie

You know when the first book ends on such a massive cliff hanger you almost throw the book across the room? Meet me after finishing The Raging Ones. So to tell you I needed to get my hands on The Last Hope is an understatement.

Summary

Imprisoned for weeks on an enemy starcraft, Franny, Court, and Mykal have sat with an unfathomable revelation. But as they fight to stay alive, escaping prison means trusting a young mysterious stranger. He knows everything about their lost histories, and when answers aren’t given freely, the bonded trio are forced to join a mission. One that will determine the fate of humanity.
Legend says, a baby―the first of her species―has the power to cloak and teleport planets. Tasked with retrieving the infant, Court fears the baby is just a myth, and if they fail, they’ll never find the truth about their origins.
As Court and Mykal grow closer, their linked bond becomes harder to hide, and dynamics change when Franny begins to fall for someone new. Vulnerable and with no choice, the hunt for the baby sends the trio on a dangerous path to Saltare-1: a water world where their enemies can’t die and survival comes at a high cost.

If you read The Raging Ones, then you probably don’t need to hear much from me about why you’ll enjoy The Last Hope. Talk about an epic cliff hanger. What consistently impresses me about the story is how Becca & Krista aren’t afraid to completely dispel any expectations about what you think regarding the genre. The series is one that will keep surprising you. The Last Hope asks us both what makes us human, and who are community will become.

Faced with an enemy that won’t die, one where consequences, foregone conclusions, and fate are second nature. The secrets, revelations, and mysteries constantly unfold across the page. As they must navigate their bond and relationships between Franny, Court, and Mykal (especially as their romantic relationship becomes stronger), is a challenge they must still face – will they ever emerge on the other side? Especially as they evaluate the pros and cons of their bond, what it gives, but also takes from them.

In a world where some live only for the day, versus others whose entire lives are spread before them, how do we make sense of our future? Our individual choices? And faced with the enormity of the future, can we avoid repeating our parent’s mistakes? The mistakes of the past? The Last Hope will keep you guessing, even till the very end, and if you thought your jaw dropped from the first book, you just wait.
