I am SUCH a huge fan of the Feverwake series. When I got the opportunity to host Lee for this guest post I was thrilled. Please go read this series, this post, and check out all the other fabulous content on this blog tour!
Summary
Six months after Noam Álvaro helped overthrow the despotic government of Carolinia, the Atlantians have gained citizenship, and Lehrer is chancellor. But despite Lehrer’s image as a progressive humanitarian leader, Noam has finally remembered the truth that Lehrer forced him to forget—that Lehrer is responsible for the deadly magic infection that ravaged Carolinia.
Now that Noam remembers the full extent of Lehrer’s crimes, he’s determined to use his influence with Lehrer to bring him down for good. If Lehrer realizes Noam has evaded his control—and that Noam is plotting against him—Noam’s dead. So he must keep playing the role of Lehrer’s protégé until he can steal enough vaccine to stop the virus.
Meanwhile Dara Shirazi returns to Carolinia, his magic stripped by the same vaccine that saved his life. But Dara’s attempts to ally himself with Noam prove that their methods for defeating Lehrer are violently misaligned. Dara fears Noam has only gotten himself more deeply entangled in Lehrer’s web. Sooner or later, playing double agent might cost Noam his life.
Books and Tea Pairings!
RED WHITE AND ROYAL BLUE by Casey McQuiston with Ku Cha Tea’s “balance tea.” It’s an herbal blend with cinnamon, cardamom, licorice root, coriander, fennel, ginger root, and rose. So it ends up tasting floral but also with a little warm spicy finish. I could see Alex forcing Henry to try it, and Henry liking it even though he’s usually more of an Earl Grey kind of guy.
WILDER GIRLS by Rory Power with Aveda’s comforting tea, which is a very licorice-heavy peppermint tea. The taste reminds me of overgrown wildernesses and is ever-so-slightly medicinal—perfect for warding off the Tox.
ANNA K by Jenne Lee with a super super expensive and beautiful jasmine silver needle tea. Or maybe Russian Caravan. This book is like everything you ever wanted from the indulgent “rich kid” Gossip Girl-style books, but it’s also an incredible and diverse retelling of Anna Karenina. So I kind of both want to go for the ‘worth its weight in gold’ silver needle but also the old school Russian tea. And why not both?
NINTH HOUSE by Leigh Bardugo with a nice smoky lapsang souchong. This kind of tea is smoked in bamboo baskets over a pine fire, and it comes out like a campfire in your mouth, laced with pine resin and an astringent black tea taste. Very lively; will ward off ghosts.
I KISSED ALICE by Anna Birch with a pleasant Adagio tea fandom blend. Specifically “Off With Her Head” from the Alice in Wonderland line, of course. This tea is vivid red and tart, with notes of hibiscus and sour cherry. Mix with sparkling water for a tea spritz and drink while drawing fanart.
LEGENDBORN by Tracy Deonn with Ku Cha Tea’s “winter chai.” It’s a suuuuper spicy chai with cayenne and cacao blended in with the chai…and there’s rosemary too? And maybe that’s why like it for Legendborn, which combines old legends (the rosemary, the traditional chai) with something new and fresh (cayenne, cacao). Plus I just think Bree’s the kind of person who would love this tea, I dunno what else to tell you.

Victoria Lee grew up in Durham, North Carolina, where she spent twelve ascetic years as a vegetarian before discovering spicy chicken wings are, in fact, a delicacy. She’s been a state finalist competitive pianist, a hitchhiker, a pizza connoisseur, an EMT, an expat in China and Sweden, and a science doctoral student. She’s also a bit of a snob about fancy whisky.
Victoria writes early in the morning, then spends the rest of the day trying to impress her border collie puppy and make her experiments work.
She is represented by Holly Root and Taylor Haggerty at Root Literary.

Oooh, this is an interesting post! I loved the tea descriptions and thought they embody the essence of the books from the sound of them. I wish there was an actual tea party with a bunch of books and their tea pairings(plus a stack of pastries of course!) so that we could actually taste them!
Wait….that would be like the best book event. Tea and books and cookie party!
