April Wrap Up

Social distancing has made April seem like one long day. I didn’t even know it was the end of April basically until the beginning of May. Working from home, staying at home, means I never know what day it is. Is that the same it’s been for you? I’ve been using reading as an extreme coping mechanism and doing many buddy reads! Keep reading to see how my reading month was! Make sure to tune in for my charts and my milestones!

Books Read – 34

I can’t even believe it. As I said I’ve been using reading as a coping mechanism HARDCORE. Also I’ve been doing a lot of buddy reads to keep me reading. In March I got pretty behind because I was sick with a sinus inflammation that just floored me. So in April I had to work triple time to catch up for May. I’ve also been reading romance books before bed to de-stress my mind as well which is why there’s an inflated number as well.

I’ve been experimenting with IGTV and there I did a 15 minute video of all my favorite reads from this month – 21, so definitely check it out if you want a quick recap! I tried to do it as fast as possible and I just barely made it in time.

Knowing I featured 21 books in that wrap up, you can guess that April was a pretty good reading month for me. I still feel like I was glazing over while reading. For most of April I kind of felt like that feeling of not knowing what I’m reading and what not. But by the end I was able to shake it off and I really enjoyed most of the reads at the end of the month!

Chart Data!

As you can see I read so many books in April and it was my heaviest reading month all year. Reading as coping is a thing. But also I got so anxious about every aspect of my life, reading included. So my goal for May is to take it much slower. To put less pressure on myself. Just because I feel uncertain and anxious about life in general, because of the virus, does not mean that I need to be as anxious about this. I feel like, for me, it was like I can control how much I read and work even if I can control NOTHING else

I also thought you might want to see my updated stats on genres. As you can see fantasy is taking over but I want to up my consumption of science fiction in the next coming months.I know it says book sources, but I forgot to re-name that. But the second most read genre is…..contemporary! It is not what I expected, but I’ve been finding a lot of comfort in contemporary recently.

Finally, how am I doing in my challenges? I think my goal for YARC was something like 100, so I am not doing too badly and I think my goal for SARC was not as high, but if you think about it, the ratio from YARC to SARC is about 30% if I did math right. I’m going to try to work up to about 40% at least by the end of the summer!

Milestones

And a mini milestone I achieved in April was that on my Instagram I finally hit 2.5k! It’s such a relief because my goal is 3k this year so I’m halfway there. I know there’s a lot of ups and downs with Instagram, so I’m trying not to celebrate too hard, but I am so proud of myself. I’ve been spending more time on the app and making more friendships in April as a whole. So, numbers aside, I’ve been enjoying my time more there too.

Since Twitter has become a bit of a minefield when dealing with the news and politics, I’ve had to be more mindful of my time there so I’ve been finding a lot of joy in Instagram!

  1. I’ve been binging romance books as well!! They make me feel all warm and happy 🙂

Congratulations on hitting an IG milestone! I’d like to try doing IGTV but I’m unsure how to start! Maybe you could do a post on IGTV or making short videos?

    1. YES! And I normally can assume that there will be a good ending and I just need that right now lol

oohhh I will! Maybe in the fall when I would have done about 3-4 of them! Does that sound good?

  2. Ah you’ve had such an incredibly productive reading month, I’m impressed by how much you manage to read. I have the lucky ones on my TBR, waiting to be emotionally ready to dive into it haha 🙂
