If you are looking for a fantasy romance adventure, That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon is for you. It’s hilarious, spicy, and full of heart. I ended up finishing this one in a few nights I was so absorbed. Keep reading this book review for my full thoughts.
Summary
All I wanted to do was live my life in peace. Maybe get a cat, expand my spice farm. Really anything that doesn’t involve going on a quest where an orc might rip my face off. But they say the Goddess has favorites. If so, I’m clearly not one of them.
After saving the demon Fallon in a wine-drunk stupor, all he wanted to do was kill an evil witch enslaving his people.
I mean, I get it. Don’t get me wrong. But he’s dragging me along for the ride, and I’m kind of peeved about it. On the bright side, he keeps burning off his shirt.
Review
I have been hearing more and more about the Mead Mishaps series. And I am so glad I caved to the pressure. That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon is such a delight. Cinnamon is a fabulous narrator. She’s hilarious, sassy, and adaptable. I love how she doesn’t want to be the hero because I feel like that’s an underrated feeling but one that is more realistic! At the same time, she rolls with the punches upon finding out about an evil witch. What I loved about That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon is the balance between fun and spice with the stakes.
Because while there’s a lot of adventure, action, and battle scenes, the stakes remain concentrated on the personal. On Cinnamon and her relationships, her love for her family, and her budding attraction. With plenty of spice and swooning, this romantic fantasy allows both Cinnamon and Fallon to open up as characters. To see their chemistry and genuine concern for each other. Above all, this book is just fun. If you’re looking for a delightful before bed fantasy to read, That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon is for you. I already am starting the sequel and am so excited for book three!
