Review
Tania’s journey is a quick read and very much reminds me of a shorter – and younger audience approved – quest story. It has hints of The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe and its main plotline centers around our longing for both home and new unlikely friends. It is a quick read that is entertaining, but, like a few other reviewers have remarked, it was difficult to connect to the characters. There is description of what Tania does, but it’s hard to feel the same emotions she is feeling.
At the same time, there’s a little suspension of disbelief, because it is a middle grade novel, about the way certain events happen – but this doesn’t take away from the ultimate good feeling we’re left with at the end. This might be a good way to introduce a child to fantasy, but there’s a few others I’d also recommend after you’ve gone through that gate.
